A huge, steel horse sculpture beautifies the beer garden of the Klosterstüberl in Fürstenfeldbruck.

The plant is only intended to be the prelude to a cooperation between three institutions in Fürstenfeld.

Artist Hansjürgen Vogel has bigger plans.

Fürstenfeldbruck

- Almost four meters high, the steel horse stretches its neck towards the chestnuts in the beer garden of the Klosterstüberl.

Vogel is already installing a second sculpture right next to it: a torso - also made of steel - that Susan Broy created.

Both works relate to similar sculptures that are in front of the artist workshop in house 10 on the other side of the street.

The horse and the torso were also created in the sculpture workshop, of which Vogel is the director.

The works of art are not quite finished yet.

The rest is done without the assistance of the artist.

The steel is still rusting and gives the works the rough edges, which also inspire the Klosterstüberl landlady Birgit Bartels-Peter.

“You don't notice art that is too smooth,” she says.

"I love art that polarizes."

15 groups should be much more interwoven

It was Bartels-Peter’s initiative that Vogel set up his horse in the beer garden.

"She asked me to do something artistic in the beer garden and ran into open doors with me," reports the bird who lives in Haspelmoor.

For the restaurateur, the trigger for the proposal was the diversity in Fürstenfeld.

“We have 15 groups here.

They should be much more interwoven, ”she says.

You know and you like each other.

“We should also convey that to the outside world,” says the restaurateur.

In this way you can complement and inspire each other.

With Vogel she finds open ears.

The sculptor envisions a kind of joint venture between the visual arts, gastronomy and horse stable.

All three can be found in Fürstenfeld on the road towards Gelbenholzen in a very small space.

"For example, you could do a scavenger hunt on horseback with the stable and design it artistically," says Vogel.

However, the idea is still young, so the proposal is “spoken in the dark”, says Vogel.

"But I am working on it."

Hansjürgen Vogel: "Ten more works can easily be set up here"

The cooperation with the beer garden of the Klosterstüberl is far from over with Vogel's horse and Broy's torso.

"Ten more works can easily be set up here," says Vogel.

Bartels-Peter is more than open to a sculpture park between the tables.

“I think that's great, and we also have a lot of space here,” she says.

Bartels-Peter was often approached by guests about the horse, for which Vogel was inspired by the Italian Marino Marini, who is known for his horse sculptures.

"It is sensationally well received," she says.

She expects something similar from Broy's torso.

“The two plants do not take anything away from each other, but complement each other perfectly,” says the landlady of the Klosterstüberl.

The works of art in the beer garden don't just look good.

According to Bartels-Peter, they also have a social effect: “You can start a conversation through art.” The restaurateur also welcomes the idea of a larger cooperation.

"Here we have the opportunity and the platform to create a win-win situation for everyone involved," she says.
