(CNN Spanish) -

A woman was allegedly shot in the head by a Colombian Army uniform at an alleged military checkpoint in Miranda, Cauca, in the southwest of the country, said Brigadier General Jhon Jairo Rojas Gómez, commander of the Specific Command of Cauca.

The woman, identified as Juliana Giraldo, was mobilizing in a white vehicle and appears in the passenger seat with a bullet impact that would have caused her death, confirmed President Iván Duque on his Twitter account.

A video that went viral on social networks shows an upset man, crying out for help for someone who identifies as "my wife" while recording a soldier lowering his face.

"This man killed me," says the man who recorded the video.

  • They open criminal proceedings against two police officers in Colombia for suspicions of brutality against a man who later died

Later, the same man, who said he was driving the car at the time of the events, asked for the video to be broadcast with a message: “We have no weapons, we have no drugs, we have nothing, this man killed her.

Help me please, help me make this video viral, help me, come on.

Look, we're not wearing anything, they killed Juliana, that man shot him in the head.

In the recording, one of the soldiers responds: "I would have stopped."

The man recording says: "I did stop."

The Army Communications department confirmed to CNN that the videos circulating on social networks are the basis for its investigation of the events.

These are several short videos that record the situation after the incident but not the moment at which the woman would have lost her life.

The president of Colombia, Iván Duque, condemned in a tweet the incident reported on Thursday morning.

"I have ordered the Ministry of Defense and Army of Colombia to arrange the necessary for the investigation with speed," said Duque.

The president affirmed that "the person responsible must receive exemplary punishment" and expressed his solidarity with Juliana Giraldo's relatives.

I condemn a reprehensible fact that occurred in Miranda, Cauca.

I have ordered @mindefensa and @COL_Ejercito to arrange the necessary for investigation with speed.

Responsible must receive exemplary punishment.

Solidarity with family members of Juliana Giraldo, to whom we will provide accompaniment.

Defense Minister Carlos Holmes Trujillo said that the Army commander "will evaluate and take the necessary measures to correct any errors that may have occurred" and will determine "command and control responsibilities."

Holmes Trujillo said that for the moment the soldier allegedly involved in the events and other uniformed men who accompanied him have been removed from their functions and made available to the competent authorities for the corresponding actions.

The reason for the outrage in Colombia

Javier Ordóñez's death on Wednesday after being detained by police sparked a wave of protests that led to riots.

At least 13 people died and the defense minister asked for "forgiveness for any violation of the law."
