The association has sent a letter to District Administrator Robert Niedergesäß (CSU).

district
to be examined.
The animal rights organization has been warning of the risks of
horse-drawn carriages
for many years
.
“The slow
horse-drawn carriages
repeatedly cause dangerous situations on the streets.
They just don't belong in modern road traffic, ”says Peter Höffken, specialist at
PETA
.
"Since the vehicles have neither safe braking systems, airbags nor a crumple zone, serious accidents with
carriages are
inevitable." The only solution to protect people and animals is therefore a
ban
on
carriage rides
.
Scare horses is the number one cause of accidents, according to PETA
In 2019,
two people were killed and at least 142 injured
in a total of 59
carriage accidents
in Germany.
The animal welfare organization reports.

horses
died
in 2019
, and fourteen other animals were injured.
