The increasing numbers of infections keep the countries of the EU in suspense.
At the same time, there is resistance to new corona measures.
The sharp rise in
Corona infections
causing many
EU governments
for
alarm mood
.
They therefore lead to
corona restrictions
- which, however, also meet with broad criticism.
Displeasure
is now apparently growing,
especially in Germany's neighboring country
France
.
Update from September 26, 9:59 a.m
.: In view of the
corona demos
in the
Marseille
region
, the
French Minister of Health
Olivier Véran defended the government's course.
The new measures are necessary "even if they are unpopular," tweeted Véran on Friday on the occasion of his visit to the port metropolis on the Mediterranean.
"Lives depend on it," he
warned.
According to the media, several hundred people protested against the closure of bars and restaurants in front of a courthouse in the city center.
Véran announced in the middle of the week that the
"maximum alert"
would be declared for Marseille and the overseas region of Guadeloupe
.
This results in special restrictions

Corona numbers are increasing rapidly: Germany's neighboring country is threatened with the next wave of chaos
Original report from September 25th
:
Marseille - As far as the 14-day incidence of the WHO is concerned, the rather small EU-Balkan state of
Montenegro is
currently the sad
Corona *
leader among the
27
members: On September 25, it was
525
.
The incidence puts the number of newly reported cases in relation to 100,000 inhabitants.
In second and third place are
Spain
with
289
and the
Czech Republic
with
229
.
France
just missed the top 3
with
210
- and the mood in the pandemic in neighboring Germany is
inflammatory
.
France has already had its first strict
lockdown
.
On Wednesday, the government had
tightened
the
corona requirements
(especially for large cities):
For the first time since the
first Corona wave *
, the Parisian hospitals have to
cancel
operations
that are not absolutely necessary
.
Gatherings
of more than
ten people
in parks and squares, for example, are prohibited.
Fitness studios
and
sports halls
must remain closed.
In
Paris
and other major French cities, there is a
curfew
from 10 p.m.
From September
26th
(Saturday)
all bars and restaurants in
Marseille,
which is
particularly affected
by the
infection *,
must
close.
Corona numbers "explode" in France
That is exactly why the street protests are now.
A number of restaurant owners threatened
to disregard
the
closure
orders.
Regional representatives of the southern French region (for which the Foreign Office has issued a travel warning) called the tightening of the measures a
“collective punishment”
and an “affront” by the
Paris central government

Just one day after the tightening of the corona measures, France set a new
record
for infection cases.
16,096 people
tested positive
within 24 hours
.
However, experts point out that the infection
numbers
in March and April
only recorded a fraction of the actual infections
due to the
low test capacities
and therefore cannot be compared with the numbers since the start of the large-scale tests.
Coronavirus in France: "An epidemic cannot be played with"
Prime Minister Jean Castex
tried to smooth things over.
"An epidemic cannot be played with,"
warned Castex on
France 2
.
In no case did he want to have to
return
to the
rigorous exit
restrictions that had applied between March and May.
On the day of France's corona record, the
EU disease control agency ECDC
expressed concern
on Thursday
about the situation in seven EU countries, including
Montenegro, the Czech Republic
and
Spain
.
In detail, the EU experts came to the conclusion that
keeping your distance
,
hygiene rules
and the use of
face masks
alone apparently cannot stop the spread of the virus.
Therefore, health systems should be strengthened and members of
risk groups
* better protected.
Coronavirus in the EU: Mayor of Paris objects to corona measures
The
Mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo announced
that she had
lodged a formal objection
to the new Corona measures
.
In particular, she criticized the fact that fitness studios and sports halls must remain closed.
Sport contributes to people having a
"strong immune system"
, she noted on TV channel
France 3
.
Il faut tout mettre en œuvre, dans une concertation totale, pour prévenir la recrudescence du # Covid19.
Mais il est capital que les mesures soient proportionnées avec soin pour la vie sociale, le sport, la culture.

"You have to do everything to contain Covid-19," tweeted Hildago.
"But it is essential that the measures are proportionate to the preservation of social, sporting and cultural life," she tweeted. Many countries meanwhile tightened the restrictions. In England all restaurants and pubs have to close at 10 pm. Austria's Chancellor Sebastian Kurz announced a ski season without après-ski parties.
Meanwhile, the situation in Great Britain is also worsening.
As n-tv now reports, citing the statistical office, the number of current new infections has risen to around 9,000.
In the previous week, the country still had around 6,000 infections per day.
