Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is still trying to advance emergency regulations that will restrict the demonstrations and bring them to the government's approval in a telephone poll tonight (Saturday) or tomorrow morning.

This is despite the opinions of the Attorney General and the Attorney General of the Ministry of Health stating that the move is unconstitutional.

Walla!

NEWS It was learned that the legal adviser of the Ministry of Health, Uri Schwartz, yesterday submitted to the Secretariat of the Government an opinion according to which there is a legal impediment to restricting demonstrations in government emergency regulations because such a move is unconstitutional.

According to senior officials involved in the matter, the opinion of the Attorney General of the Ministry of Health was submitted along with a similar opinion of the Attorney General.

Over the weekend, talks took place between Health Minister Yuli Edelstein, Defense Minister Bnei Gantz and Justice Minister Avi Nissenkorn, in which the Likud reiterated its demand to raise emergency regulations for government approval as soon as the Knesset law is approved to limit demonstrations next week.

According to senior officials in blue and white, they made it clear to Edelstein that they oppose restricting demonstrations in emergency regulations and also sent a message to Secretary of State Tzachi Braverman that if the regulations were submitted to the Cabinet Secretariat - they would prevent the government from convening by telephone.

According to government regulations, the consent of the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister is required for the Government's agenda.

A source in blue and white told Walla!

NEWS "There will be nothing without the consent of blue and white."

According to political sources, Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit was also updated on the talks and clarified that restricting demonstrations in emergency regulations is unconstitutional.

The Likud began promoting the restriction of demonstrations in emergency regulations after failing to pass in time the amendment to the Corona Powers Act, which would allow the government to declare a "special state of emergency" and restrict gatherings for demonstrations and prayers.

The Minister of Health announced yesterday that he will bring to the government's approval emergency regulations that will have the power to restrict assembly until the law is enacted in the Knesset next week.

At the same time, the director general of the Ministry of Health, Hezi Levy, handed over a document to the prime minister in which he warned of danger in gatherings. "Rock fragments in a state of great closeness between the participants may cause a large increase in the rate of infection, and consequently also an increase in the rate of morbidity," reads the opinion of the director general of the Ministry of Health, written at the request of Minister Edelstein.
