However, Melf considered a replacement in a central location desirable, which could not only be used as an ice rink in winter, but also for other sports in summer.

The former councilor and ice hockey player Michael Schuster, who as a coach is very committed to the young ice hockey players in Reichersbeur, came up with a visionary solution.
"The current ice rink is no longer up-to-date," he stated.
He suggested building a multifunctional place equipped with Glice Ice hard plastic technology as a replacement.
It would be ideal to cover such an area, which can then be used all year round regardless of the weather.
Also for other sports.
The hard plastic plates have good sliding properties, can be sanded down several times after intensive use and are also used in the professional sector for summer training.
A big advantage compared to conventional ice surfaces is that there are no energy costs for ice making.

Mayor Ernst Dieckmann imagined an area in the area of the hard court in front of the gym as a possible location.
Subject to the approval of the school association, the area would be suitable both for school sports and for recreational sports in the afternoon and evening.
The idea could be further developed in the course of village renewal.
However, this has currently stalled because the expressly prescribed public participation cannot be carried out in times of Corona.
Klaus Harrer also liked the performance, who described an ice rink as “a must” due to the history of ice hockey in Reichersbeuern.
“In the past we have repeatedly brought out national players and are probably the club with the most national players in all of Germany,” said the Third Mayor, emphasizing the importance of ice hockey for Reichersbeuern.
