Düsseldorf - The
local elections
in Germany's most populous state of
North Rhine-Westphalia were
two weeks ago - now some voters are allowed to
send in
their
ballot papers
a second time in the
voting booths
or
by postal voting.
In some of the largest cities, too, there will be a runoff election for the mayor's office on Sunday because none of the candidates achieved an absolute majority in the first ballot.
In particular, the previously
SPD-ruled state capital Düsseldorf
and the
SPD stronghold Dortmund
are also in the nationwide focus.
From the outcome of the election, political observers also expect a signal to Berlin - because the
