Many choirs are still hesitant to resume rehearsals.

Not so the one that Markus Bauer heads.

The young new director of the Schongau City Choir, who is already rehearsing again, now also wants to get the youngsters excited about singing - with a youth choir.

Schongau

- "Singing simply makes you happy", Markus Bauer is convinced.

And much more in the group.

That is why the idea of a youth choir in Schongau arose in August during a meeting of those responsible for the “Festive Summer in the Wies”, of which the 26-year-old has also been director since then.

The Pfaffenwinkel music school did not yet have one on offer.

Until now.

But it sometimes takes a long breath before something new gets around and becomes established in Schongau.

“Only” three girls came to the first trial lesson, but they were immediately enthusiastic.

“To be honest, I feared that nobody would come because nobody knew me yet,” said Bauer, relieved that he wasn't standing alone in the Ballenhaus.

“There is currently no choir at school, so the youth choir is a great opportunity for me to still be able to sing,” said Pia (17), explaining her participation in the trial lesson.

Helena (15) and Selina (16) agreed and added: "There is so little going on right now."

After a short introductory round, it started.

With speech and rhythm exercises, because a voice wants to warm up too.

With his open and charming manner, Bauer immediately took all inhibitions off the young women, people laughed and of course sang.

And current hits.

Accompanied by Bauer on the piano, the three obviously had fun.

The new choir director can also fall back on experience, as he has already directed a youth choir for two years.

“I grew up with it myself and I know how nice it is to sing in an ensemble”, he explained and also advertised his choir: “Everyone can take part, you immediately have a sense of achievement in a choir, you have no acquisition costs, and his 'instrument' always with you. "

Markus Bauer is passionate about music, and this enthusiasm carried over to the girls.

“We'll definitely be back,” Pia promised, because: “The choir director brings so much joy and vigor.

This is exactly the right thing for young people who like to sing. "

You don't have to have any vocal training either, the choir is open to all young people aged 13 and over.

If you feel like watching the choir without obligation and without prior registration, you will have the opportunity on Wednesday, September 30th.

Because then there will be another trial lesson in the Ballenhaus at 6 p.m.

Registration afterwards is also possible at any time in the music school's secretariat (08861/8173).
