Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan today by phone the latest developments in the Nagorno Karabakh region and the escalation between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
"The importance of making all necessary efforts to prevent the continuation of the escalation of the conflict, and the most important thing is the necessity of stopping hostilities," the Russian presidency confirmed in a statement carried by Russia Today.
She indicated that the Russian side, during the call that took place at the initiative of the Armenian side, expressed its deep concern about the renewed fighting between Yerevan and Baku.
The situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh region witnessed a sudden military escalation today, while the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides exchanged accusations about the reasons for the escalation.
