The terrorist who carried out the stabbing attack in Paris yesterday admitted that he did so following the re-publication of Muhammad's cartoons - this is what the sources involved in the investigation of the attack said yesterday (Saturday), in which a man and a woman were seriously injured.

The two, employees of a production company, were stabbed while smoking a cigarette outside the former offices of Charlie the Bedouin magazine.

The magazine moved to work from a secret location following the massacre of its employees in 2015, and it once again published the cartoons on the cover of its latest issue, on the occasion of the start of the trial of 14 people involved in that attack.

The two wounded are hospitalized, but are not in danger of death.

One source told AFP that the Pakistani-born 18-year-old terrorist had "taken responsibility for his actions" during the investigation.

He was arrested shortly after the attack, and the butcher knife he used was found not far from the offices, in the 11th arrondissement of Paris.

The company where the two wounded worked, Premieres Lignes, which deals with investigations, is currently sitting in the offices.

At the same time, the police released another person who was arrested near the scene after the attack.

He was initially suspected of involvement in the stabbings, but later it turned out that he was actually chasing the terrorist.

In all, six other people were arrested in addition to the stabber, one of them a former roommate.

The other five were arrested in one of the suburbs of Paris during searches of a property linked to the main suspect.

"The enemies of the republic will never win," assured French Prime Minister Jean Castex, who praised the "efficiency" of security forces in response to the attack.

Authorities have stepped up the promise around other sensitive sites in Paris, including synagogues.

Neighbors and shopkeepers in Fanten, the suburb where the terrorist lived, described him as "discreet and polite."

The young man, who came from Pakistan alone three years ago, lived as far as is known a small inspection in a four-story building.

"He was very polite. I saw him many times sitting on the stairs with his phone. He helped me carry groceries," said one of the neighbors, who identified herself as Jozan.

The attack - during the 2015 trial of the aides

In the previous attack against Shirley Bedouin, on January 7, 2015, 12 people, including some of the most prominent illustrators in France, were killed by the two terrorists, the Kwashi brothers, al-Qaeda operatives in Yemen.

They were killed two days later by security forces.

During those two days, a policewoman and four hostages in a kosher supermarket in Paris were killed by terrorist Amadi Coulibaly.

Shirley Bedouin, whose cartoons about Muhammad and Islam have angered parts of the Muslim world over the years, promised to continue his work even after yesterday's attack.

He received threats from al-Qaeda this month, following the re-publication of the controversial illustrations.

The trial against 14 defendants in aid of the two brothers has reopened one of the most painful chapters in the modern history of France, with harsh testimonies from survivors and relatives of the dead.
