75 children have been accepted in Riyadh and regular schools for the current academic year, according to the Children and Students with Special Needs Assessment Committee.

Dilal Hilal, head of the department for integrating people with special needs in regular schools in the Homs Education Directorate, explained to SANA that the merger took place this year in about 71 schools, including 9 riads, pointing to the creation of the modernized Shajarat al-Durr School, a first cycle in the Karm al-Zaitoun neighborhood and the restoration of the martyr Ammar Nasif In the Bab Hood service district, which is the first inclusive school in the country.

Hilal indicated that the distribution of inclusive schools for the current academic year took into account the geographical distribution in the governorate, noting that the number of resource rooms teachers reached 88 teachers, most of whom were trained on the “Portage” program, behavior modification, educational integration and learning difficulties.

Hilal explained that during the current year, training of resource room teachers continues on educational skills and ways to deal with other disabilities such as autism, speech, language and visual disorders.

Hilal called for the necessity to continue holding training courses for resource room teachers on all ministerial disabilities, and equipping integrated schools with the necessary furniture, in addition to completing the implementation of the engineering code in them and qualifying managers and teachers of inclusive classes on educational integration.

It is noteworthy that last year, 14 male and female students from the resource rooms succeeded in the basic education certificate and one student in the secondary school certificate from Rafik Rizk Saloum Inclusive High School.
