It's done: Tomorrow evening, the company Spitzke from Buchloe, which was commissioned with the renovation, will hand over the new central platform and the completely renewed track system of the Schongau station to Deutsche Bahn.
It was an act of strength.
Schongau - According to construction manager Monika Koopmann, the workers were on duty around the clock for two weeks.
Ten to 20 men worked in two shifts;
also on Saturdays and Sundays.
Last weekend some remaining work had to be done.
According to Koopmann, points two and four were replaced.
Freight traffic continues to roll over it on the Fuchstalbahn route in the direction of Landsberg.
The repair of the track system in the station is now complete.
Passengers can easily reach the trains
The central platform between tracks two and three is also brand new.
It is 140 meters long, 4.90 meters wide and 55 centimeters high.
From here, passengers can easily reach the trains entering and leaving the two tracks.
"Not only do mobility-impaired passengers benefit from stepless boarding and alighting, but also travelers with prams, bicycles or wheeled suitcases," says Deutsche Bahn, which, together with the federal government, has invested around 3.2 million euros in the barrier-free expansion of the Schongau train station .
Ticket machine no longer at the station building, but on the platform
Only when it came to the question of where to get the tickets for the trains was there a bit of confusion.
"We were asked about it very often," says site manager Koopmann, looking at the machine at the station building, which has disappeared.
But there is a substitute: Passengers can now get their tickets from a machine in the weather house on the new platform.

Meanwhile, there is no replacement for the old platform on track four, which has been dismantled.
Should rail bus trips be offered again on the Fuchstalbahn route, a temporary arrangement would have to be set up for a stop in Schongau (we reported).
