" regretted party chairman Abderrazak Makri.

The MSP wants a "

change in the political system

" and in particular that the head of government be appointed within the party winning the legislative elections.

Another proposal of the MSP refused: "

Constitutionalize the ban on the use of the French language in institutions and official documents

".

In its plea against the constitutional revision, the MSP targets several articles, including article 51 which stipulates that "

the State ensures the protection of places of worship from any political or ideological influence

", which in the eyes of the Islamist party is equivalent to devoting "

secularism. of the mosque

"

Protecting women against all forms of violence

", a "

risk of threatening the private family sphere

"

Another discontent of the MSP, article 40 which stipulates that "

the State protects women against all forms of violence in all places and in all circumstances in the public space, in the professional sphere and in the private sphere

".

The party sees in this a "

”, the unprecedented popular protest movement which erupted in February 2019 to demand a change in the “

system

” in place since independence (1962).

During the presidential election of December 2019, the MSP did not present a candidate and did not support any, judging that "

" n 'were'

not met

'.

Main opposition party in Parliament (34 deputies out of 462), the MSP, which calls itself the Muslim Brotherhood, had been a member in 2004 of the Presidential Alliance, a coalition supporting President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, elected for the first time in 1999 and deposed in April 2019. The MSP had broken this alliance in 2012.
