For his part, the Armenian Ambassador to Russia Vardan Tujanyan stressed that the situation around Karabakh requires swift intervention by the co-chairs of the Minsk Group of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.

"The issue of holding an urgent meeting is within the competence and authority of the Minsk group, but the situation is clear and requires the quick intervention of the co-chairs and for Turkey to stop its aggressive interference in the affairs of the region," Toujanian added, noting that after the escalation of the situation in the summer and the current escalation in Karabakh, new geopolitical facts have crystallized in the region South Caucasus.

"These facts are summarized in the fact that there is a third party working today in the theater of military operations in the South Caucasus - Turkey, and on the part of NATO, which is actively participating alongside Azerbaijan through the presence of military advisors and by supplying it with weapons, etc."

 For its part, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense announced that 6 civilians were killed and 26 others were injured as a result of the military operations in Karabakh.

The ministry said today that its forces have taken control of several strategic heights near the village of Talish in the Karabakh region.

Since yesterday, Sunday, battles have erupted between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the disputed Karabakh region, in which light and heavy weapons were used, and the region is still witnessing a military escalation to this day.

In addition, Sergey Naryshkin, Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, emphasized that the escalation of the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Karabakh can only be resolved politically and diplomatically.

He said in a press statement today, "The escalation of the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia is regrettable and unfortunately there are victims and both parties are using heavy weapons as well. We believe that this issue can only be resolved through political and diplomatic methods, and Russia is always striving for peace in every possible way."

The situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh region witnessed a sudden military escalation, while the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides exchanged accusations about the causes of the escalation. These developments come two months after a similar escalation in the border region between Armenia and Azerbaijan in mid-July, where the two sides exchanged accusations of causing it.
