At the Bobigny court, it's raining in the courtrooms!

Wet season for justice. Last week, five courtrooms suffered heavy water infiltration. Emergency measures

Last Thursday, an audience had to change rooms three times because of water infiltration.

This is what the new president of the Bobigny judicial court (Seine-Saint-Denis), Peimane Ghaleh-Marzban, confided to the Prime Minister on Friday, visiting the site the next day.

Plunged into the harsh reality of the second court in France, Jean Castex came to take stock of the extension work of the court and their delivery announced "in 2025".

But it is other works, related to the roofing of the building, that have literally brought rain in courtrooms in recent days.

Buckets between computers

A dozen buckets of water must have been placed all over the platform, between the piles of files and the computers of the magistrates and clerks who officiated that day.

“We beat the Paris court, the little players!

“Chtite greffe is ironic on Twitter.

Yet brand new, the Parisian court is also a victim of infiltration in its corridors.

"Bad housing in the 93 begins with the court", adds Ludovic Friat, coordinating magistrate of the 17th chamber and local representative of the USM (Union Syndicale des Magistrates).

Three rooms took the shower.

“Thursday and Friday, we found infiltrations on rooms 4, 4 and 6, specifies the president of the court.

We had to find fallback solutions.

It was not easy.

So, on Friday, the 16th bedroom, which occupies one of these rooms, had to move to another wing.

The ministry urgently alerted

This time it was not the water that disrupted the debates but the too cool temperature.

The clerk had put on a puffer jacket under her dress.

“We are forced to postpone hearings.

You can't judge in the rain, ”laments Ludovic Friat.

"Only one case was postponed," said the president.

The downpours that fell on Ile-de-France also caused leaks in two other courtrooms which were not yet under construction.

The tarpaulins were not enough to prevent the infiltration of rainwater.

With its glass frame, this construction takes water from all sides.

Heavy work on waterproofing and roofing is in progress.

"Sunday, the real estate department of the Ministry of Justice was urgently alerted to intervene on Monday and cover these two other rooms," said the president.

Accommodation should be found.

After that we would risk being in difficulty.

The goal is to quickly launch work that was only planned in a few weeks.

While waiting for the extension of the court, which will double its surface, the magistrates of the correctional system may still see the sky falling on their heads.
