This attack left two seriously injured employees of a TV news agency.
The assailant, arrested shortly after, has since been in police custody.
In front of the investigators, he accepted his act and admitted having wanted to attack the satirical weekly, unaware that the editorial staff had moved to a secret place since the 2015 attacks.
Investigators are trying to find out more about his identity: he himself introduced himself as an 18-year-old Pakistani, but searches of his cell phone revealed a photo of an ID, according to which the latter would actually be called "
Zaheer Hassan Mahmoud
" and would be 25 years old, according to sources familiar with the matter.
It is under this identity that this man presented himself in a video recorded before the attack and authenticated by the investigators.
Five other police custody are also still in progress: three former roommates of the main suspect in his apartment in Pantin, his little brother and an acquaintance.
