In the past school year, holiday care in Denklingen did not come about due to a lack of interest. For the teaching year from September 2020 to summer 2021, the Arbeiterwohlfahrt Oberbayern (AWO) wants to organize an offer at the primary school in Denklingen.

In the past school year, holiday care in Denklingen did not come about due to a lack of interest.

For the teaching year from September 2020 to summer 2021, the Arbeiterwohlfahrt Oberbayern (AWO) wants to organize an offer at the primary school in Denklingen.

Denklingen

- So far, the holiday care was provided for the elementary school students in Denklingen and for the siblings.

In the meantime, the Frank Hirschvogel Foundation has expressed its interest in supporting such an offer financially if the target group and care times can be expanded.

The parents' contributions are therefore covered by the foundation.

This means that the parents only have to pay for food or for materials for handicrafts.

At least 14 children must participate

The municipality of Denklingen concludes an agreement with the Arbeiterwohlfahrt, according to which it will contribute an amount of 17,500 euros for holiday care in 2021, as decided at the latest meeting of the municipal council.

It is assumed that at least 14 children take part.

The AWO holiday care is intended for boys and girls at the Denklingen primary school, but also for children at the Apfeldorf / Kinsau primary school.

It is also offered to their siblings between the ages of five and twelve.

It is also intended for children whose fathers or mothers work in companies in Denklingen.

Reacts to current developments

Mayor Andreas Braunegger reacted with satisfaction.

A partner has been found in the AWO who reacts to current developments and enables care during the vacation weeks when the parents cannot take vacation.

One reason for this could be that fathers and mothers, because of the lockdown on Corona, have already brought their annual vacation fully or at least largely forward this year.

Cornelia Eberle is responsible for coordinating the holiday care on site.

She and her team have been the contact person for the open all-day school in Denklingen for several years, which has existed in Denklingen since 2016 and which is currently attended by 65 boys and girls.

The focus of the open all-day school is the support of the students with study times and homework supervision.

In the rooms of the primary school

In contrast, the holiday care focuses on the relaxation of the children: "We want to offer leisure activities, experiences and adventures, get creative and go on excursions in the surrounding area," says Linda Quadflieg from the AWO Upper Bavaria.

It is planned to enable childcare from the autumn holidays and in the coming year in the carnival, Easter, Whitsun and summer holidays.

The plan is to start with a group that can accommodate up to 25 children.

At least 14 children must be registered.

The care should take place in the primary school in Denklingen, primarily in the rooms of the open all-day school, but also in the specialist rooms and in the playground.

Linda Quadflieg from AWO Corporate Communications adds: "We want to be outside a lot."
