A Kentucky investigative jury's decision to indict a single police officer involved in the death of Breonna Taylor fueled simmering nationwide outrage over racial injustice.
The protesters took their anger to the streets over the weekend.
Protests of police brutality have erupted across the country since May, when George Floyd died in the custody of Minneapolis police officers.
But last week's decision in Louisville, Kentucky, that five of the six officers involved in the raid on Taylor's apartment face no charges, while one was indicted, but not for his death, lifted the mood already. country tense.

Louisville
Protesters have taken to the streets since Wednesday, the day the state attorney general announced the Taylor decision.
On Saturday, police arrested 25 people on a variety of charges, including rioting, curfew violations and robbery.
Fires broke out, protesters smashed the windows of a school, marked buildings with graffiti and set a car on fire in the Spalding University parking lot with fireworks inside, Louisville Police said.
Video from a Louisville Police helicopter showed a fire on the street near a church.
Police also released videos showing broken glass doors and a badly damaged illuminated sign next to the street.

New York

The New York Police Department arrested at least a dozen protesters in Greenwich Village on Saturday, spokeswoman Denise Moroney said.
Eight people received citations for disorderly conduct, he said.
The other four face charges that include resisting arrest, obstructing government administration, walking on the roads and using an "amplified sound device" in a nearby park, he said in an email.

Orange County, California
A 40-year-old woman was arrested and charged with attempted murder and assault after hitting two protesters with a vehicle during a demonstration Saturday in Yorba Linda, Orange County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Carrie said. Braun.

At around 8:30 p.m. local time on Saturday, several hundred protesters converged across the street from the Multnomah County Justice Center building, which houses the Portland Police Office and began to block a nearby intersection, police said.
Skirmishes broke out with people throwing projectiles at police, who fired pepperballs into the crowd, according to CNN affiliate KATU.
At one point during a traffic stop near the Justice Center, police were attacked with what they believe to be slingshots and ball bearings, authorities said.
Police confiscated a can of anti-virus spray and a tactical baton during an arrest, they said.
Police declared a meeting illegal shortly before midnight, but the skirmishes continued and officers made several arrests.
Seattle
Police arrested 10 people after a group smashed windows, started fires and threw fireworks at officers, Seattle Police said.
On Saturday night, some protesters "made their way through the city causing damage along the way," the Seattle Police Department tweeted.
Police said they told the group to disperse, but the group defied the order and instead threw rocks, bottles and fireworks at the officers.
The uniformed officers used tear gas to drive the crowd back, allowing the Seattle Fire Department access to put out the fires, police said.
