The Supreme Court of Spain ratifies the ruling against Quim Torra, the president of the Generalitat of Catalonia, who must leave his post.
Torra was charged with the crime of disobedience for not maintaining neutrality during the 2019 elections. The court confirmed that Torra will have a year and a half of disqualification and a fine of 30,000 euros.
During the trial in 2019, Torra acknowledged that he did not obey the order, considering that the electoral body is not hierarchically superior to him.
In addition, it considered that the Generalitat, as an institution, did not participate in those elections.
