The war in the Nagorno-Karabakh region entered its second day today (Monday), with both sides reporting heavy fighting along the entire eastern border of the region, which is held by Armenian separatists.

The main information flowing from the battlefield comes from official announcements from the Ministry of Civil Defense, the Armenian Ministry of Defense and the Arctic Defense Army, the military organization of Armenian differences in Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as a flood of videos, photos and testimonies flooding social networks.

The Azerbaijani army claimed that 500 Armenian fighters had been killed in the fighting so far, while the Armenians claimed that hundreds of Azeri fighters had been killed by their forces, along with dozens of their men.

The Armenians even claimed that they had managed to regain most of the positions that had fallen to the Azeris on the previous day of fighting.

The Azeris reported at least two civilians killed in the shelling during the night while the Armenians reported ten.

Armenian media showed pictures of residents of the capital of the Nagorno-Karabakh region, Stefankart (Hankandi in the mouths of the Azeris) as they crowded shelters due to Azeri military shelling.

The Azerbaijani army has released a series of night-time videos showing the destruction of Armenian toner positions along the front.

The Armenian side has released several videos showing dozens of armored vehicles and tanks of the Azerbaijani army alongside harsh footage of Baku security forces being killed and equipment being looted.

As you may recall, last night the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, declared war on Armenia, after the latter announced general conscription and military rule across the country.

Large forces of the Armenian army were transferred during the past day to the disputed region in preparation for an Armenian counterattack on the Azeri army.

Armenia claims that Turkey has sent thousands of fighters from Syria to help the Azeri forces, a report that appeared even before the start of the fighting, a move that was denied in Ankara and no evidence has yet been received from the field.

The war in the disputed region is the most difficult confrontation between Armenia and Azerbaijan since the Nagorno-Karabakh war in the 1990s.

During it, the Armenian separatists, with the help of the Armenian government, managed to hold on to the region, which is internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan and hundreds of thousands of Azeri refugees left the region.

At the same time, tens of thousands of Armenians living in Azerbaijan and parts of Nagorno-Karabakh left by the Azeris were forced to flee to Armenian territory.

Both sides reported atrocities and massacres during the fighting.
