"She's smart, she's beautiful, and people would love her": Donald Trump wanted his daughter Ivanka to be his deputy four years ago - that's what an ex-campaign worker claims.

When Donald Trump's election officials discussed in June 2016 who should be a candidate for the office of US Vice President in the event of Donald Trump's election victory, the Republican allegedly amazed them with an idiosyncratic idea: Trump proposed his daughter Ivanka.

According to the Washington Post, Rick Gates, former deputy campaign manager for Trump, reports it in the new book "Wicked Game", which is due to appear on October 13th.

"I think it should be Ivanka," Trump said at the time.

"She's smart, she's beautiful, and people would love her!"

Trump was very enthusiastic about his idea.

Although his then 34-year-old daughter had never held an official position before and was therefore completely inexperienced, he did not allow himself to be dissuaded from his idea at first.

In the following weeks, too, he advertised his daughter to his campaign staff.

Mike Pence, then governor of Indiana, was actually another favorite for the office of deputy.

Ivanka Trump herself, who accompanied her father during his election campaign appearances, was ultimately the one who stopped Donald Trump.

She told him that as a "running mate" she wasn't a good idea.

Trump then came to terms - and appointed Mike Pence as his runner-up candidate.
