"More than 150 city rabbis and heads of yeshivas have issued a letter of support for Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu and against the High Court ruling, which ordered him to be disciplined for political statements and racism, as defined by the judges. In the letter, the rabbis protest the High Court's decision. This is how the rabbis of Israel have behaved in all generations, this is how the chief rabbis of Israel have behaved and this is how every rabbi in Israel should do, "they wrote.

"The right and duty of every rabbi in Israel to express his Torah-halakhic opinion without fear and without prejudice," the rabbis clarified their position.

"This is the way of the Torah, this is how the rabbis of Israel have behaved in all generations, this is how the chief rabbis of Israel have behaved and this is how every rabbi in Israel should do."

Later in the letter, the rabbis wrote: "The words of Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu, who call for the strengthening of the Jewish family, the strengthening of the Land of Israel, the prevention of assimilation and the penetration of Reform Judaism in the Land of Israel are his legitimate halakhic position, with which many Israeli rabbis agree. "He must have the courage to say what is on his mind without fear and without fear. The rabbi's prosecution is the same as the prosecution of the rabbinate in Israel."

The rabbis accused the High Court judges of closing their mouths. "We strongly protest the intention and demand to prosecute Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu for halakhic Torah statements.

The courts in Israel have greatly stretched the scope of the right to freedom of expression.

We demand and insist that this right to freedom of expression be given equally to the rabbis of Israel in every site and site. "

Among the rabbis who signed the letter are Rabbi Aryeh Stern, Rabbi of Jerusalem, Rabbi Micha Halevi, Rabbi of Petah Tikva, Rabbi Yehoshua Shapira, Rosh Yeshivat Ramat Gan, Rabbi Elyakim Lebanon, Rabbi of Samaria, Rabbi Shlomo Aviner, Rosh Yeshivat Ateret Jerusalem, Rabbi Yechiel Abuhatzira, Rabbi of Ramla, David Druckman, Rabbi of Kiryat Motzkin, Rabbi Eliyahu Bar Shalom, Rabbi of Bat Yam, Rabbi Menachem Perl, Head of the Tzomet Institute, and Rabbi Yehuda Amichai, Head of the Torah and Haaretz Institute.
