An evening "Eternal Sicily" live on the Figaro site

This evening, from 8 p.m., Sicily will be in the spotlight on Le Figaro.fr: discover the history of this fascinating island, the images of Sicilian beauties, behind the scenes of the Figaro Hors-Série report and filmed interventions from Sicily.

After the intervention of Mrs. Teresa Castaldo, Ambassador of Italy and of Mrs. Federica Galbesi, head of the Italian tourist office in Paris, Michel De Jaeghere, editorial director of

Figaro Hors-série

and

Figaro Histoire

, will discuss the writers of the Grand Tour, who introduced 19th-century Europe to the centuries-old wonders of Sicily.

It will bring to life the strange personality of one of the most paranoid tyrants of antiquity, Dionysius of Syracuse, and will finally reveal the latest archaeological interpretations of the breathtaking set of Roman mosaics in the Villa del Casale, in Piazza Armerina.

Our colleague Isabelle Schmitz will retrace the epic of the Normans of Sicily, and particularly of a family from Cotentin, the Hauteville, of minor nobility, who brought about in Sicily a golden age for which the island is still nostalgic. ;

the theatricality of a baroque devotion strongly influenced by the Spanish conquest, which is reflected in Sicily by churches with spectacular decoration and by votive festivals whose processions begin at four in the morning.

will also give of this baroque age the profane vision of the palaces of Palermo, with facades, stairways of honor, ballrooms and decorations, each more exuberant than the other.

It will finally celebrate the paradise of cinema, a Sicily revealed and magnified by artists of the seventh art.

Live on Le Figaro Live at 8 p.m.

This special program, to be followed on Figaro Live, will bring together personalities of Sicilian cultural life, from the temples, churches, palaces and theaters of Sicily: Loredana Cannova, tour guide, will introduce you to the cathedral of Palermo and the legacy of the Normans, as well as the church of Gesù, baroque jewel.

Lorenzo Capraro, tour guide, will walk through the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, while Princess Carine Vanni Calvello will take you behind the scenes of the interview of the legendary Gangi Palace, where the Cheetah ball scene was filmed.

The puppeteers of Fratelli Napoli, from Catania, will reveal to the French public a typically Sicilian art inherited from the Norman court.


A competition (reserved for
