Yerevan-Baku-Sana

Armenia and Azerbaijan announced today that the fighting between the forces of the two countries will continue last night on several axes of the line of contact in the Nagorno-Karabakh region, against the backdrop of the military escalation between them.

In a statement carried by Russia Today, the Armenian Ministry of Defense indicated that battles of varying intensity are continuing between the forces of the two countries, indicating that the Armenian units repelled attacks by the Azerbaijani forces in several areas of the contact line and caused heavy losses of lives and equipment in some areas.

According to the statement, the Armenian forces destroyed this morning a group of Azerbaijani armored vehicles on the southern axis.

In turn, a statement of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry stated that the Armenian forces tried to regain the lost areas on the axes of Fuzuli / Gabriel and Agdara Tartar, but the Azerbaijani army responded to these attempts and forced them to retreat and inflicted heavy losses on their ranks.

The statement pointed out that during the night battles, a mixed convoy of Armenian armored vehicles and vehicles was destroyed, which was heading from Madaghiz to Agdarah, in addition to an artillery battery.

The situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh region witnessed a sudden military escalation last Sunday, while the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides exchanged accusations about the reasons for the escalation. These developments came two months after a similar escalation in the border region between Armenia and Azerbaijan in mid-July, where the two parties exchanged accusations of causing it.
