Greeted with a touch of commiseration, the Dacis have long since earned their certificate of respectability.

Over the generations, the way we looked at these new cars at the price of a used and the go-anywhere bodywork has changed.

The mark of those who make fun of what to say has become the emblem of fair price and reasonable consumption.

Dacia is to Renault what Skoda is to VW: a smart purchase.

Never copied, in fifteen years, the low-cost brand of Renault has sold 6.5 million vehicles, including 2.1 million Sandero.

Something to leave you dreaming of the most prestigious brands touching the abyss.

This will not surprise anyone, its Stepway adventurer variation, the most rewarding of the range, represents 65% of the mix.

With a third generation in the dealerships in a few weeks, Dacia wants to reduce the gap between it and Renault.

Without departing from the famous fair price to which it has accustomed us.

By accessing the CMF-B platform of the Clio 5, the third Sandero can dream of a new destiny.

Its more inspired style remains identifiable with that of a Dacia but the more inclined windshield and the marked shoulder refer to the city car with the diamond.

Inaugurating the brand's elongated Y-shaped light signature, this 4.08 m sedan has left nothing to be desired.

The tracks widen, the door handles are of the refrigerator type, the glass surfaces tilt and the roof is lowered to gain some precious points of aerodynamic Cx and therefore reduce consumption.

With its raised ground clearance, its black plastic body contours and its specific shields, the Stepway gains even more presence.

It adds ingenious modular roof bars whose system has been the subject of a patent.

In a few seconds, thanks to a key stored in the glove box, this roof rack accepting a load capacity of 80 kilos can adapt to needs.

The adoption of the Clio platform results in an increase in rear roominess and trunk volume, 528 liters (+ 18 l).

It also enables a new level of technology to be crossed.

This is how the Sandero can receive the hands-free card with remote opening of the trunk, the electric handbrake, the reversing camera, the sunroof, the front and rear parking aids and an 8-inch multimedia touch screen ( Media Nav).

Sign of a desire to go upmarket, the board strip can be draped in fabric (higher versions) and the air conditioning controls are digital display.

If it does not race for the stars, the Sandero increases its security.

In addition to the stiffened chassis and the six standard airbags, the car preferred by individuals is equipped with automatic emergency braking, hill start aid and blind spot detector.

Dacia

Under the hood, the Sandero cannot compare with the Clio, but the engines have been revised to adapt to the new pollution control standards in force on January 1st.

While it has ruled out superethanol E85 because of the lack of a European outlet, Dacia continues to believe in gasoline-LPG dual fuel.

It is also in this version that the 3-cylinder TCe 1 liter turbo becomes the most efficient in the range: 100 hp and 170 Nm of torque.

The petrol version delivers 10 hp and 20 Nm. Its advantage: it is available with a CVT gearbox which reduces CO2 emissions by 11% on the Sandero and 4% on the Stepway version.

The atmospheric variant of the 3-cylinder (SCe 65) will ensure the entry level at an announced price close to that of the current model.
