On Monday evening, "Geiger Automotive" announced how the location decision had turned out: The company is relocating completely to Penzberg.

In the board meeting of the parent company Sanoh it was decided to move the two Bavarian production facilities together with the headquarters of Geiger Automotive GmbH to a single location, announced "Geiger" managing director Martin Thorbjörnson on Monday.
The locations in Murnau and Ziemetshausen would be relocated to the former premises of "Hörmann Automotive Penzberg" (HAP) on Seeshaupter Strasse by December 31, 2022, the message continues.
"Geiger Automotive": Relocation of the first divisions will start this year
According to the company, the first relocation measures will begin at the end of this year.
This initially involves administration, sales, procurement, engineering and logistics from the Murnau headquarters.
The relocation of production from Murnau is to begin shortly afterwards.
It will be completed by December 2021, according to "Geiger Automotive".
In a further stage of the move, production, administration, logistics, sales and development will move from Ziemetshausen to Penzberg.
According to the company, this phase should be completed by December 31, 2022.
The future plant in Penzberg, it is said, has a production and logistics area totaling 29,800 square meters as well as offices and lounges of 3,530 square meters.

According to "Geiger Automotive", around 400 people are expected to be employed in Penzberg.
This will "strengthen the Penzberg region in the long term", says Managing Director Thorbjörnson.
In order to meet all requirements and the future direction of the company, "Geiger Automotive GmbH will invest heavily in the Penzberg location".
Thorbjörnson did not mention numbers.
He also explained that the company would benefit from cost advantages "by pooling the competencies of the Murnau and Ziemetshausen locations" which will further secure the future and sustainability of the company and its employees.
Penzberg's Mayor Stefan Korpan: "We are very happy"
The mayor of Penzberg, Stefan Korpan (CSU), said on Monday evening: “We are very pleased that such a large employer is coming to the HAP site.” Perhaps a gap - created by the HAP closure - could be closed.
"Geiger Automotive," said Korpan, has a good name and reputation.

HAP had ceased operations on June 30th
The site on Seeshaupter Strasse in Penzberg has been fallow for three months.
On June 30, the HAP company - at times more than 700 people were employed there - ceased operations.
In March, the then Penzberg mayor Elke Zehetner (SPD) and the head of the "Hörmann" real estate company, Heinz Runte, announced that the automotive supplier "Geiger Automotive" was interested in leasing the site.
At that time there was talk of a 90 percent probability - which, however, caused annoyance at "Geiger Automotive".
There it was said that Penzberg was only one of four options and that the decision ultimately rests with the parent company in Japan.

"Geiger Automotive" now stated that the management had already announced in previous employee meetings that the future of the Bavarian plants would be assessed.
The reason is their low utilization and the "lack of a strategic advantage with two factories that are very close to each other".
It was also found that "Geiger" did not have a competitive infrastructure in the two factories.
Optimizations in production and logistics could not be fully implemented.
New buildings on the green field near Murnau and Ziemetshausen were also examined.
According to "Geiger Automotive", employees are now being offered the option of moving to the new plant.
Support, for example in the form of relocation allowances or the search for housing, would be negotiated with the works council and the city of Penzberg.
