The Dallas Mavericks confirmed to CNN that team owner Mark Cuban picked up former player Delonte West at a Dallas gas station on Monday.
Cuban's action is an attempt to help get Delonte West's life back on track.
However, they declined to provide further comment on the event.
On the other hand, The Athletic reported that Mark Cuban reunited the former player with his mother, Delphina Addison, in Dallas on Monday before West entered a rehab center in Florida.
So far, CNN's attempts to reach West's family have been unsuccessful.
According to TMZ, Cuban was trying to get in touch with West after a photo surfaced on social media of him begging at an intersection in Dallas last week.
CNN has not been able to independently verify the photo.
The former player has a long record of strange behavior, financial problems, problems with the law, in 2009, and a diagnosis of bipolar disorder, in 2008, which West later questioned.
All this documented since he joined the NBA, in 2004.
After a stellar youth season, in which he led the Saint Joseph's Hawks to a 30-2 record and a prolific career in the 2004 NCAA college championship, the Boston Celtics chose West at the end of the first round of the NBA Draft.

West played three seasons in Boston before becoming a free agent, and he played for the Seattle SuperSonics, the Cleveland Cavaliers, returned to the Celtics again and played with the Dallas Mavericks.
After his 2011-12 season with the Mavs, West spent time in the NBA G League and professional leagues in China and Venezuela.
