Israel has accused Hezbollah, an Iranian ally, for two years of converting rockets into precision missiles at various facilities in Lebanon, including at a site near Beirut International Airport.

In a speech from Jerusalem broadcast to the UN General Assembly on Tuesday, Netanyahu presented a map showing he said a "

secret weapons warehouse

" in the southern suburb of Beirut, a stronghold of the Shiite formation, near the airport.

According to the Israeli army, these are precision missiles.

He specified that this "

warehouse

" was "

one meter

" from a "

gas company

" and about fifty meters "

from a gas station

".

Referring to the deadly explosion that rocked Beirut in August, the head of the Israeli government, also in open struggle against Iran and Hezbollah, warned of "

another tragedy

" in the event of explosion of this alleged weapons depot.

"

I say to the people of the district of Jnah (south of Beirut, editor's note), you must act now, you must oppose this because if it explodes it will be another tragedy

, declared in English Netanyahu.

I say to the people of Lebanon: Israel does not want you any harm but Iran does.

Iran and Hezbollah have deliberately placed you and your families in grave danger,

”Netanyahu added.

Israel and Lebanon are technically in a state of war, and their common border, patrolled on the Lebanese side by a UN force, remains the scene of sporadic incidents.

Last year, heavy exchanges of fire at the border between the two countries had recalled, the story of a day, the specter of the 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah.

Since the start of the war in Syria, Israel has also carried out numerous air raids in that country, targeting in particular Lebanese Hezbollah fighters and Iranian forces who support Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
