The Knesset plenum is expected to approve today (Tuesday) the amendments to the "Great Corona Law", including the restrictions on holding demonstrations in the public space during a general closure.

The Knesset's Constitution Committee, chaired by MK Yaakov Asher (Torah Judaism), will convene to approve the law for a second and third reading, and in blue and white are expected to support.



If the law is approved, there will be no demonstrations during general closure but in groups of only 20 people. The main section of the bill gives the government the authority to declare a special state of emergency in order to impose further restrictions on the public following the spread of the Corona virus. Among other things, it is proposed to impose restrictions on keeping distance in public spaces of up to two meters. Open, and no more than 10 in a closed structure, regulations that restrict the operation of institutions that conduct educational activities and prohibit their opening to students, as well as regulations that allow the operation of public transportation to a minimal extent.

However, the regulations stipulate that the government will not declare a special state of emergency due to the corona virus unless it has been presented with the position of the Minister of Health and a professional opinion from the Ministry of Health, establishing the existence of the serious health condition.

If a state of emergency is declared - it will be valid for seven days, and can be extended to a maximum of 21 days.



"The government may impose a restriction on the gathering at a demonstration, prayer or religious ceremony, including a restriction on the number of people participating in the gathering."

However, the bill states that "this restriction will not completely prevent a gathering in a demonstration, prayer or religious ceremony."

There will be no quarantine but up to 20 people.

The Constitution Committee discussed the bill on Friday but the MK chairman who closed the debate after no consensus was reached around its wording.

Opposition factions submitted more than 3,000 reservations, and disagreements arose between the Likud and Blue and White after Likud members sought to amend the law so that demonstrations could be restricted even when there was no general closure.

The Likud announced that it would give up this demand and continue to promote the original wording of the bill.

NEWS Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday tried to approve emergency regulations in the government aimed at reducing the demonstrations, following the delay in passing the bill in the Knesset.

Netanyahu's attempts led to a confrontation in the government, after the blue and white made it clear that they would strongly oppose it.

They were also joined by the ombudsman, Avichai Mandelblit, and the ombudsman of the Ministry of Health, who claimed that this was an unconstitutional move.

Meanwhile, the protest groups "No Situation", "Prime Minister", "Come Israel", "The Pink Front", "We Woke Up", "Insults" and "Culture Shock" whose members are expected to board a convoy of vehicles to the Knesset this morning to protest against what they called The "Dictatorship Law" reported that they are repeatedly urging ministers Bnei Gantz, Gabi Ashkenazi and all members of the Blue and White Party to vote against the law.



According to them, "if the law were passed, it would be like a sign of Cain to you and their party to the world."

The organizations added: "You will bear the responsibility for the guilt, human harm, freedom and equality of the citizens of the State of Israel."

The organizations said that this morning, convoys of vehicles will depart from several centers around the country on their way to a huge convoy of thousands of vehicles on Road 1 in the Latrun area and from there to the Knesset.
