Prime Minister Jean Castex receives representatives of the sector who cannot digest the closures imposed in certain cities to fight against the spread of the coronavirus.

In an attempt to appease the anger and respond to the concerns of restaurateurs forced to lower the curtain at 10 p.m. in eleven major cities, Prime Minister Jean Castex receives union representatives in Matignon this Tuesday morning.

He will be surrounded by the Minister of the Economy Bruno Le Maire and Alain Griset, the Minister Delegate to the Minister of the Economy, Finance and Recovery.

Since Monday September 28 and until Sunday October 11 inclusive, establishments that do not offer food must close at 10 p.m., latest deadline.

Establishments that have both a restaurant and bar activity are no longer authorized to serve alcohol from 10 p.m., except as an accompaniment to a meal.

These rules apply to Paris, Lille, Toulouse, Saint-Etienne, Rennes, Rouen, Grenoble, Montpellier, Bordeaux, Lyon and Nice, areas placed on

“enhanced alert”

.

In Aix-en-Provence and Marseille, on "

maximum alert

", these establishments have been completely closed since midnight Sunday.

On France Info, starred chef Philippe Etchebest on Monday called on restaurateurs impacted by these restrictions to gather in front of their establishments on Friday October 2 at noon with a piece of black cloth around their arm.

"We must make noise and show that we are there, that we are dying, us and our staff too,"

he explained.

"

It is a pacifist action, without violence, no disobedience because I do not encourage that, it is just to show that we are there and that we are dying and that something must absolutely be done thing

”, again defended Philippe Etchebest who had already spoken last May at the time of deconfinement to defend the profession.

The Bordeaux chef media then estimated that 40% of restaurants would close "if nothing moves" and demanded a solidarity fund for his profession exhausted by the Covid-19.
