A spokesperson for the center said that Hong Kong currently only establishes a poultry meat import mechanism with Russia, and there is no poultry egg import mechanism.

According to the Census and Statistics Department, Hong Kong imported about 140 tonnes of frozen poultry meat from Russia in the first half of this year.

The spokesperson said that the center has contacted the Russian authorities regarding the incident and will continue to monitor the World Organisation for Animal Health to issue news about the outbreak of avian influenza and take appropriate actions in response to the development of the local epidemic.
