Rawa'a Sunbul and Hassan Abdul Basit Al-Joudi, two Syrian storytellers, won the second and third places in the Abdul Hameed Shoman Prize for Children's Literature for the topic of “The Fictional Story” for the age group of 4-7 years for the year 2020.

The award, which was attended by nearly 1600 storytellers from different Arab countries, and was held in Jordan. The target age is in addition to forming a world based on dreams and fantasies that include heritage or modern elements, creating a place where events take place, and creating strange or exotic characters that are not related to real life and have their own laws.

In a statement to SANA, the cultural storyteller spoke about her love for children's literature that she writes for her two daughters, in what is more like a joint workshop with them, watching through what she reads their facial expressions while listening to her and listening to their notes, especially since they often draw characters or make them from worksheets.

She indicated that this story is not her first experience in writing for the child, and it will not be the last, as she wrote some stories and a theatrical text before, but her first experience in heading to the age of early childhood, indicating that writing for this category is not an easy task, and the idea must be selected well and to avoid direct and choose a simple language. Attractive, interesting and scenic phrases together.

Regarding her participation in the Schumann Prize, she explained that what motivated her was the specific field for writing a "fairy tale", which seemed to be a tempting test for her, explaining the details of her winning story, which tells about the longevity of the girl fond of drawing and about her grandmother who creates clouds in the form of similar balls that she scatters in the sky and looks bleak and boring The story emphasizes the importance of difference from others and the necessity of daring to effect change. Thanks to Dumdum, clouds are no longer just similar balls, but they have different and joyful shapes.

It is noteworthy that this is the third prize for a wonderful storyteller, as it won first place in the Sharjah Creativity Competition. It also reached the short list for the Rashid bin Hamad Award in Theater in the UAE, and two short story collections were issued to it.
