Weilheim - The necessary changes to the zoning plan for the area “north of Deutenhausener Straße” are currently underway.

The opinions of the specialist authorities received during the procedure were the subject of the most recent meetings of the Weilheim construction committee and the city council.

There were no objections from the public, as was emphasized.

Meanwhile, the government of Upper Bavaria - with reference to the “land saving offensive” of the Free State of Bavaria - recommended building the car dealership “in the already built-up area”, that is, in town.

But there is no suitable plot of land available within the city, according to the argumentation of the city planning office, which is why the targeted location is "without alternative".

At this location, in turn, according to the Upper Bavarian government and the Oberland Region Planning Association, a "space-saving construction method" is required in any case.

In the statement, reference is made to the threatened severing of the green corridor by the new building project - which will affect the urban climate.

As reported, according to current planning, around three quarters of the almost 20,000 square meter property will be built over: the planned building of the car dealership will cover a good 5600 square meters with a canopy, plus a further 9,937 square meters of sealed area, e.g. for parking spaces.

Access is to be via Jakob-Steigenberger-Straße, which branches off from Deutenhausener Straße in front of the Renner hardware store.

Under no circumstances would a development directly from Deutenhausener Strasse be conceivable, emphasized the Weilheim State Building Authority responsible for the state road.

In its statement, the authority also pointed out that a local bypass to the east of Weilheim - which has so far been considered the cheapest variant of a possible bypass - would be "made more difficult" by the planned new construction.

The latter would suit him “as an opponent of any aboveground bypass”, said Ullrich Klinkicht (“Weilheim with one another”) in the September meeting of the city council.

But he rejects the construction of a new car dealership at this point for two reasons: Because the Integrated Urban Development Concept (ISEK) for Weilheim demands that the western part of the area should remain free of development.

And because a car dealership there would mean additional traffic in the Upper City and “burden the people there even more”.

In addition to Klinkicht, the Greens representatives Brigitte Gronau and Manuel Neulinger also voted against the change in the zoning plan.

All the other city councilors, however, agreed to the deliberations of the city planning department and thus approved the plans.

After a revision, the documents for the land use plan change must be publicly displayed again.
