A 50-year-old man, alleged perpetrator of a stabbing homicide on his ex-girlfriend on Saturday in Wissembourg (Bas-Rhin), was arrested Monday evening "
in the south of France

The gendarmerie had published a search notice for the suspect's vehicle on Monday.

The vehicle was found last night in the south of France, and its owner arrested,
” a source familiar with the matter told AFP.
The man was taken into police custody and must be "
repatriated to Alsace
".
The suspect and the victim had been in a relationship for a few months.
The victim had ended it over the summer and had since met another man.
This case brings to at least 51 the number of suspected feminicides since the beginning of the year, according to an AFP count.
In 2019, 146 women were killed by their spouse or ex-partner, 25 more than the previous year, according to the latest official figures.
