By creating the Citizen's Convention for the Climate, Emmanuel Macron hoped to kill two birds with one stone: respond to the ecological crisis and to the democratic crisis at the same time.
We must not forget that this presidential intuition stems from the great national debate, itself the result of the “yellow vests” crisis.
With this poker game, the Head of State sought to respond to the double angst of the end of the month and the end of the world.
It was obviously before a third crisis, that of the Covid.
But the success of the five-year term continues to depend on the success of the first two years.
Which are perilous.

On the democratic side, the method of drawing lots, contested but innovative, did not lead to solutions of such originality that no “classic” assembly could have conceived them.
The "package" of 149 proposals - the Convention members themselves renounced lowering the speed - had the merit of presenting a coherent and organic vision.
