While the health crisis is scaring residents of large cities, a program unveiled this Thursday could encourage the urban population to turn to small towns.
Entitled "small towns of tomorrow", the latter's objective is indeed to revitalize these remote areas, left behind for too long.
The policies implemented in recent years have in fact focused on large agglomerations but also on medium-sized towns, which still benefit from ongoing support and known as the “city center”.
And nothing for more modest villages.
Presented by the Minister for Territorial Cohesion, Jacqueline Gourault, and by the Secretary of State for Rural Development, Joël Giraud, this new program is intended for them.
Concretely, the latter will concern 1000 cities of less than 20,000 inhabitants which will be selected according to one strong point: that they play a central role in their territory.
