There are countless movies and series about people who disappear one bright day and are alive years later in all sorts of bizarre places.

The following story sounds like it's a client from one of these movies - only it's completely true.

Colombian Angelica Gaiten disappeared about two years ago and was found last Saturday alive floating in the middle of the sea away from home, with her eyes closed and unable to say a word.

Two frightened fishermen found her and hurriedly threw a lifebuoy at her and led her to their boat.

The rescue operation was recorded on camera, and a video later posted on the network shows 46-year-old Angelica lying on the lifebuoy and being dragged to the boat about two miles from the shores of the city of Puerto Colombia in the province of Atlantico, Colombia, suffering from fatigue and hypothermia.

According to local media reports, the two fishermen, Rolando Weisbel and Gustavo, tried to talk to her in Spanish and English to make sure she understood them, but Angelica was so weak she could barely speak.

The local newspaper "La Libertad" reports that Angelica stayed in the water for 8 hours, at the end of which the fishermen noticed her and thought that what they saw in the water was a log until she started to move and managed to raise her hand to signal for help.

The fishermen managed with great difficulty to get Angelica on the boat, tried to talk to her and brought her water but she burst into tears and refused to cooperate.

They brought her to the beach and there, with the help of locals led her to the hospital for treatment.

It was further reported that the first words Angelica said after she was rescued were: "I was born again, God did not want me to die."

It was only later that the fishermen learned that Angelica had been missing for two years.

What has happened to her in the last two years, the reason for her disappearance and her sudden appearance are now being investigated by the police.

Its version

After her recovery, Angelica was interviewed by RCN Radio and told how she found herself in the middle of the sea, two years after leaving her home.

She said she suffered for 20 years from severe violence at the hands of her partner and ran away after he tried to kill her.

Angelica told the local radio station: "For 20 years I had a toxic relationship, caused by my ex-partner.

The abuse began as early as the first pregnancy.

He hit me, he abused me.

In my second pregnancy the abuse continued and I could not stay away from it because the girls were small.

I reported it many times, but the police detained him for 24 hours and when he returned home, the beatings returned. "She added:" The day I decided to leave the house was after a very severe assault.

In September 2018 he broke my face and tried to kill me.

Thank God I was able to escape. "

She claimed she moved to the streets of Brancilla for six months. She then sought help and was housed in a homeless shelter, but sank into a deep depression." I did not want to go on with my life.

One day a lady lent me money for tickets and I took a bus directly to the sea, "she said." I wanted to finish everything, I had no help from anywhere, not even from my family, because this man kept me away from my social circle.

That's why I did not want to go on living. "Angelica added:" Being by the sea, I found myself in complete loneliness and decided to go into the water.

I let the waves take me and hoped this nightmare would end soon. "Her memory from this point is dim because she lost consciousness." The man who rescued me in the middle of the sea told me I was unconscious, floating on the water.

Thank God I was alive and he threw me a lifebuoy.

They brought me to a health center where I get the necessary treatment. "

Their version

Angelica's daughter, Alejandra Kastiblenko, claims she did not know about her mother's whereabouts for the past two years, but says her story is false.

According to her, the allegations that her mother became suicidal due to a destructive relationship or assault of a former loved one are false reports.

Kastiblenko and her sister are currently raising money to drive an artist to the capital, Bogota, where they live, hoping she will be "properly cared for by the family."
