The Russian "Veliky Novgorod" submarine crew recently completed a new phase of tests of the submarine dubbed "the ship killer" after it had undergone maintenance and modernization.
The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement carried by Sputnik: “The crew of the Veliki Novgorod submarine of the Black Sea Fleet in the Russian army has completed another phase of testing this submarine after it underwent maintenance work and left the dock of the shipyard in which it was for a period of time.
The statement stated that the crew trained during the tests on the operations of loading the submarine with ammunition, its protection and defense operations while it was near the docks, and trained on the use of missile systems in the submarine.
The submarine is one of the 6 diesel-electric submarines developed by Russia to be a missile submarine that has a high ability to conceal enemy maritime radars and vehicles and has the ability to destroy ships, submarines, and hostile naval and coastal bases.
