American Timothy Ray Brown, considered in 2008 the first person to be cured of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), died of cancer at the age of 54.
The International AIDS Society (IAS, for its acronym in English) detailed that Brown - also known as "the Berlin patient - experienced a relapse in the last six months due to the leukemia he suffered.
