The former senator was not at the scene.
Although the subjects fled, one of them was arrested and the authorities seized an illegally carried revolver and recovered the stolen weapon.
According to the authorities, he was prosecuted for trafficking and carrying a firearm and qualified and aggravated theft.
In addition, they located the vehicle in which this group was traveling and are now investigating who the occupants would have been.
Piedad Córdoba thanked the police for the reaction, although she expressed distrust for the version of the robbery.
"Respectfully, I allow myself to ask: Who mobilizes 8 armed men in various vehicles to attack a van and finally only steal a weapon?" She wrote on her Twitter account.
