67 members of parliament for the opposition Turkish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) boycotted the sessions of the parliament, which today began its new session, in protest against the repressive practices of Recep Tayyip Erdogan's regime.
The two co-presidents of the Peoples' Party, Parveen Boldan and Medhat Sangar, during a press conference held in Parliament Square, denounced the arrests carried out by Erdogan's regime, targeting former party leaders in addition to mayors.
Sangar and Boldan appealed to all democratic parties and forces for the joint struggle against the practices of the Erdogan regime, which have become a great threat to Turkey and other countries and peoples of the region, noting that it is Erdogan's internal and external positions and policies that have brought Turkey to a dead end.
The authorities of Erdogan's regime arrested former parliamentarians in the party on false charges and pretenses. In late 2016, its courts sentenced to various prison terms against the former co-presidents Salahuddin Demirtaş, Vikan Yüksakdag and other members of parliament, and they have all been in prison since that date.
