State Republican Gov. Greg Abbott has announced that in each of Texas' 254 counties, only one ballot box will be set up • Democrats in the state oppose the move

Texas Gov. Republican Greg Abbott today (Thursday) ordered the removal of mailboxes across the state, leaving only one ballot box in each of its 254 counties.

In addition, polling station supervisors will be able to watch the envelopes being sent.

According to Abbott, the decision, which will take effect tomorrow, stems from security considerations and fears of an outbreak of the corona virus.

"The state has a duty to its voters to maintain the integrity of our elections," the governor said narrowly.

"We must take extra care to increase security at polling stations across the country. This will allow for greater transparency and help prevent attempts to falsify votes."

The announcement, which will take effect tomorrow, comes after the U.S. Postal Service, headed by Louis de Joey, an associate of President Donald Trump, expressed in August fears of falsifying election results following the possibility for citizens to vote through him.

Concurrent with the postal service's concern, officials in many U.S. states, as well as many citizens, claimed that many ballot boxes had been removed. Postpone the election, arguing that the postal vote "will be the biggest cheat in the history of our country."

The governor's statement was met with opposition among Democrats in Texas, who argued that it was a last-minute decision to try to dissuade citizens from going to the polls, even though the court ruled it was too late to change the election laws.

"The Republicans are going to lose, so Governor Abbott is trying to change the laws at the last minute," Texas Democratic Party chairman Gilberto Hinusha said in response to the move. "He and the Republicans in Texas are scared.

We are creating a movement that will defeat them at the ballot box on November 3, and there is nothing these scammers can do about it. "

Texas is the second largest state in the United States, with a population of 29 million, making it the state with the second largest population in the U.S. It has 36 electors, and the last time the Democratic candidate defeated his Republican opponent in the state was in 1976, so C. Carter's days defeated Gerald Ford - and he eventually won the general election.
