The Salt Cathedral, one of the most visited tourist spots in Colombia, reopened this Thursday after six and a half months of closure due to the health emergency generated by the coronavirus pandemic.
The so-called "First Wonder of Colombia" reopened after receiving the biosecurity seal "certified check in, covid-19 bioseguro" from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism.
It is located in Zipaquirá, 45 kilometers north of Bogotá.
Manager Orlando Sotelo Suárez spoke at the opening event of the Salt Cathedral.
The workers of the place are renewed and "optimistic to receive the most precious thing of this Cathedral family: our tourists and our visitors," he said.
"Today we guarantee our visitors a safe experience," added Sotelo Suárez.
The biosafety seal "certified check in, covid-19 bioseguro" of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism seeks to generate confidence among travelers and consumers to use tourist services that comply with the protocols issued by the Government of Colombia, according to the page Ministry website.
The Salt Cathedral, which is part of the Parque de la Sal tourist complex, is 180 meters underground.
