2020-10-02T09:18:22.307Z

Jurors tightened their list. Five novels were dismissed while a new candidate entered.

They are only nine.

This Thursday, October 1, the Renaudot Prize jury unveiled its second selection.

Among the authors and novels selected, many are already those to appear on other lists.

Four women are still in the running.

Irène Frain and her novel

Un crime sans importance

(Seuil) appear on the Goncourt and Interallié lists;

Marie-Hélène Lafon is with

Histoire du fils

(Buchet-Chastel) in the first selection of Femina;

Diane Mazloum competes with

A swimming pool in the desert

(Lattès) at the Medici and at the Femina.

Finally, Patricia Reznikov continues the race with

Amrita

(Flammarion), present on the Femina.

- And the novels on the first list of the Renaudot Prize 2020 are ...

Etienne de Montety is in the running for the Interallié and the Grand Prix du roman de l'Académie française with

La Grande éveuve

(Stock).

Just like Jean-Paul Enthoven with

What Pleased in Blanche

(Grasset).

Finally, Hervé Le Tellier is present on the first list of Medici and Goncourt with

L'Anomalie

(Gallimard).

It should be noted that the jurors have integrated a new candidate.

Simon Liberati, with his novel

Les Démons

(Stock), is already in the running for the Medici Prize.

Five novels were therefore excluded from this second selection.

However, last year, the final list did not include the name of the winner Sylvain Tesson and his

Snow Panther.

.

Ditto in 2018, the jury crowned Valérie Manteau with

Le Sillon

.

As some like to go off-piste, the jurors of the Renaudot Prize go off-list.

So let's expect surprises ...

The Renaudot must be awarded on November 10, the same day as the Goncourt.
