On Friday in Santiago de Chile, a 16-year-old boy fell from a bridge into the bed of the Mapocho River after a confrontation with the Chilean police, resulting in injuries of various degrees.
The event occurred in the midst of a social protest in the vicinity of the "Plaza De la Dignidad", which brought together dozens of people in the context prior to the next national plebiscite on October 25.
Through social networks, images were disseminated where it is observed how a Carabineros agent pushes the minor over the railing of the bridge, who falls and is then assisted by firefighters and transferred to a health facility.

The Carabineros de Chile reported that "for causes under investigation, a person fell into the Mapocho River from the Pío Nonoy bridge" and that a complaint has already been made to the Prosecutor's Office.
Carabineros General Enrique Monrás, head of the Santiago Oeste Zone, pointed out that “one of our police officers, when trying to arrest a young man, loses his balance and falls over the railing of the Pío Nono Bridge, falling to the bank of the Mapocho River .

The Chilean government regretted the incident and assured that "they condemn and categorically reject any action that violates human rights", adding that if a police officer is responsible for these events, they must be submitted to the Courts of Justice according to the law.
