Dr. Asaad indicated in a statement to SANA that the awareness month for early detection of breast cancer "pink month" focuses this year on the importance of raising awareness of conducting "mammograms" for women after the age of 45 years and younger in case there is a family history of first-degree relatives being injured by the father or mother. And the definition of reconstructive surgeries, fixed or movable prostheses that can be used by women after mastectomy, and options for chemotherapy, hormonal or radiological treatment that the affected women can see and discuss with the treating physician.

According to Dr. Asaad, from today until the end of this month, awareness-raising messages will be broadcast through radio and visual media, in coordination with the Ministry of Information, through an infographic video showing the importance of early detection of breast cancer in women and men, indicating that the rates of infection of men with this type of cancer, although it is still low However, it is important to highlight them and also raise awareness of the importance of following up on cancer survivors, conducting regular medical examinations. The media awareness program includes presenting short, targeted and focused meetings with a number of specialists in this field.

Dr. Asaad pointed out that one of the main tasks that the National Cancer Control Committee works on is the creation of the National Cancer Registry, in which the Ministry of Health is incubated with evidence from various government and private centers, hospitals and clinics specialized in treating and diagnosing tumors to give numbers and rates of injuries that reflect the local reality and contribute to the development of appropriate health policies. .

It is noteworthy that the month of October was chosen internationally to be a month for breast cancer awareness, which recorded two million new cases annually according to global statistics, and was among the most common cancers among women locally, and by 30% according to the National Cancer Registry of the Ministry of Health until last year.
