Fridays for Bundestag: Should climate activists get involved in politics?

The climate movement is divided on how to proceed: some want to work with politicians, others don't trust any party - and are fully committed to protest.

The most famous German climate protection activist, Luisa Neubauer, stands on the stage in front of the Brandenburg Gate and swears thousands of demonstrators to the next few months.

It is the end of September and, according to the organizers, there are around 20,000 people in front of her, almost all of them wearing masks.

The first big Fridays for Future demonstration of the corona pandemic, around 200,000 people were on the streets all over Germany, it is said later.

"Folks, what's coming now, what's coming next year, up to the federal election, it'll be tough."

The event takes place almost exactly one year after the climax of the climate demonstrations: On September 20, 2019, almost one and a half million people in Germany took to the streets under the motto "Fridays for Future" (FFF).

Eternal growth is not an option, however, who knows that better than climate protectors.

How to do without is the more difficult question - and it is now urgently asked.

In front of the Brandenburg Gate, Luisa Neubauer shouts: "This is not the end, this is just the beginning."
