The German police announced today that the suspicious device that was found on a train near the city of Cologne in the west of the country was not explosive and was not dangerous.
Reuters reported that bomb experts examined the package, which contained nails and black powder, after a cleaner discovered it in a cardboard box inside a train compartment and found it was not explosive.
For its part, Bild newspaper published, citing investigators, that it was not clear whether the package was a failed terrorist attack or an attempt to threaten and extortion.
