New life behind old walls.

The BRK House of Encounters on Rätschenbach in Erding has been in existence for two and a half years.

But what is actually happening there?

The boss should know.

Erding - In May 2018, the BRK district association took over the sponsorship of the house of meeting of the city on the Rätschenbach.

As much as there was criticism of the occupancy at the beginning, the facility has developed in a diverse manner, especially for people with low incomes or those looking for a connection.

In the city council, BRK district manager Gisela von der Heijden took stock and presented new offers from 2021.

And she renewed her promise that clubs can use the rooms - of course not for commercial purposes.

Against isolation and exclusion - the BRK could write this motto on the door of the lovingly renovated house on the Rätschenbach.

Van der Heijden emphasized several times that people should find themselves here who are alone, looking for help or want to cope with their illness.

Breakfast and lunch are served right from the start - free for the poor.

She thanked "Licht in die Herzen", the readers' aid organization of the Erdinger / Dorfener Anzeiger.

"We couldn't offer this without their financial commitment."

In addition, the groups for memory training, knitting, yoga and dementia meet regularly in the House of Encounter.

In addition to the women's circle, there is a group in which single mothers exchange ideas.

Meetings for new citizens were offered together with the city.

The storytelling café is well received.

And this is where the self-help groups for relatives of people with dementia, tinnitus and autism come together.

Van der Heijden described community nurse Martina Vollmuth, who advises seniors, single parents and people with disabilities and illnesses, as an “irreplaceable support”.

Anyone can contact her during opening hours.

According to the managing director, Corona also paralyzed the meeting place for weeks - but not the many voluntary helpers.

The result was a magazine with puzzles, which was brought to the visitors of the meeting place together with Easter gifts.

Van der Heijden was impressed that 70 young people had been found who had delivered lunch to the visitors to the - temporarily closed - lunch table;

all of that for free.

One called lonely citizens.

Conversely, there was a feel-good phone.

There are new plans for 2021, including two new groups for people with dementia and their relatives.

Van der Heijden announced the new group "Wheelchair users", which brings together wheelchair users on the initiative of a trainee.

The BRK wants to better network existing groups in open work with the disabled.

Obviously impressed, Mayor Max Gotz said: “The whiners and know-it-alls have been refuted.

We have always said that the offer has to grow and develop.

That's exactly what happened. ”Ham
