Data from the Robert Koch Institute for Infectious Diseases in Germany showed today that 2,279 new cases of the emerging coronavirus were recorded, bringing the total to 299237 cases.

The data indicated that two new deaths were recorded, bringing the total number of deaths to 9529.

In Ireland, 10 new deaths from the virus were recorded, bringing the total number of deaths to 1810 cases, while 613 new infections were recorded.

Ireland, like most European countries, has witnessed a steady increase in infections since the end of last June and tightened restrictions on gatherings as a result.

For its part, Solomon Islands announced today the registration of the first infection with the Coronavirus, which reduces the number of small countries and isolated regions that have not recorded any cases so far to nine.

Prime Minister Manase Sogavari announced that a student who had recently arrived from the Philippines on a flight returned 96 citizens who had undergone a test that showed that he was infected with the new Corona virus.

With the closure of the Solomon Islands' borders last March, more than 400 students remained stranded in the Philippines, which is witnessing a wide spread of the virus.

So far, nine small islands or regions remain untouched by the virus, namely Kiribati, the Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, Samoa Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and the Vanuatu archipelago.

In China, the National Health Committee announced today the registration of 16 new cases of Coronavirus yesterday, compared to 10 the previous day.

The committee stated in a statement that the total number of injuries has reached 85,450 so far, while the number of deaths remains constant at 4,634.

For its part, the Australian state of Victoria recorded 12 new cases of coronavirus, compared to eight the previous day.

In general, Australia has recorded more than 27,000 cases of coronavirus and 894 deaths since the virus spread last March.
